Sliding Cardboard Drawers That Keep the Unit Cost Honest
This is a sliding drawer box built in paperboard: a printed outer sleeve carries an inner tray that pushes in and draws out, and the whole unit lands at a value-tier price because there is no metal, no hinged wrap and no luxury assembly behind it. What it does deliver is the slide action itself — a product reveals by pulling, not by lifting a lid — in a format light enough to mail, cheap enough to pack with, and print-ready on every visible face.
The sample in the first photo is a blush-pink slide box with its mouth facing camera: a botanical berry illustration across the top panel, a circular emblem, matte cover paper over the board, clean white interior. That combination of printed wrap and plain inner tray is the default build here, and it suits promotional kits, confection and bakery packs, sample sachets, small electronics and seasonal giveaway runs where hundreds or thousands of units have to pencil out.
Buyers order this box style for the same reason they order tuck cartons: it stores flat, it stacks tight in a master carton, and the print is the packaging — no secondary wrapping needed at your end. And because the tray can print, too, a two-tone slide (dark tray, light sleeve) turns the act of opening into a brand moment without adding a single component.

Every Spec on This Slide Box Is Yours to Set
Before the list, one orientation note: “sliding drawer” covers two builds on this page — a sleeve-and-tray unit where a separate inner tray travels inside a fixed outer wrap, and a tuck-slide style where the tray is the box and the sleeve is a printed jacket. The blush box above is the first build; several of the olive-carton briefs below are ordered as the second. They price differently because the jacket version uses less board per unit, and they pack differently because one nests and one stacks. Naming either style in your enquiry gets you the right die from the first mock-up.
- Size – no fixed formats on this page: send the item, its packed orientation, and how far the tray should travel when opened, and we draw the sleeve-and-tray dieline around it.
- Board – paperboard build as standard; board grade and any corrugated-backed option are quoted to your product weight and dieline rather than copied from a template row.
- Sleeve fit – the sleeve-to-tray relationship is set per order so the tray stays home during handling but still draws open with one hand; fit is judged on your proof, in hand, before bulk.
- Print – CMYK or PMS colour matching across sleeve and tray; matt or gloss lamination protects the faces against scuffing in the carton.
- Artwork wrap – full-colour illustration, single-colour line art, or a plain face left unprinted like the cream side on the olive carton below; bleed and fold placement are mapped to your layout before plating.
- Interior – plain white tray, printed tray, or a die-cut liner keeping contents from shifting on the slide.
- Mixing styles – several footprints or colourways can split one order; bands, tags and cartons from the same artwork system join the same purchase order (see the program section further down).
Free design support comes with all of it: one logo and a size note returns as a digital mock-up with fold lines and print faces marked, so approvals happen on a picture, not on a promise. One sizing habit saves a whole proof round: quote your product in the orientation it actually rides in the tray — length, width, then how deep it sits — and add 2-3 mm clearance per side in the note. We draw the tray cavity to those numbers and the sleeve around the tray, so the outside box ends up as small as the artwork allows. Buyers who send only a photograph of the item with no dimensions usually approve one extra mock-up; buyers who send three numbers rarely need a second.
The olive render below shows the other end of the same paperboard range — a low, wide sliding carton with banded ends and centred type lockup, the shape buyers pick for soaps, baked goods and promo kits that spread sideways instead of stacking tall.

The unit price you see listed on this page is a reference at the 100-piece tier; final numbers move with size, board, print coverage and total quantity.
A note on the two photographs that anchor this page, because they answer two different buying situations. The blush slide box is a wrapped-board build — printed cover paper laminated to the board, the same surface language as our rigid gift boxes but at paperboard pricing; it is the choice when the box itself is the gift. The olive carton is a direct-printed folder: ink goes straight onto the board with a varnish over it, no wrap layer, which trims the unit cost and keeps the pack light for mailed drops and in-store impulse placement. Same platen, same colour run, same purchase order — the two builds coexist in one campaign whenever a product line needs a shelf version and a mail version of the same artwork. Tell us which situation you are pricing and the quote drops the other build automatically.
One Line, One Artwork System: Bands, Tags and Cartons
The slide box rarely travels alone. Promo kits need a belly band with a QR block, retail drops need tent-fold hang tags, and the product inside needs a tuck carton that matches the box artwork. All of it prints on the same line, against the same PMS references, on the same schedule as your drawers — so the band colour on the box and the tag on the shelf are the same ink, not two batches that argue.
Belly bands are sized to the box you ordered, not the other way round: we take the finished footprint, add the wrap allowance, and cut the ring so it seats without crushing the printed edges. The blanks below show the format — flat strips plus one formed ring on a cream ground with ruled borders; the artwork on them is an old client sample, kept here only as a print proof.

Tent-fold hang tags with die-cut holes follow the same rule: cut to your card size, printed both faces if needed, strung or shipped loose with the order. Because bands, tags and cartons share the platemaking run, adding them to an existing drawer order costs a fraction of what a separate print vendor charges for each piece.
Where the Cheap Versions Fail — and Our Commitments Instead
Sleeve separation in transit. A loose sleeve walks out of the box inside the master carton and arrives scuffed or crushed. Our sleeve fit is set at dieline stage and checked by cycling proof units closed, and the tray keeps enough friction to hold position through courier drops.
Print smudging on thin board. Low-grade sheet accepts ink unevenly and rubs off at the corners. Every production run goes through lamination on the print faces and colour is verified against a PMS draw-down at press check, so a matte blush stays blush from unit one to unit five thousand.
Size confusion between band and box. Buyers order bands to a box’s outer number and get a ring that will not close. We cut bands from your confirmed finished size and put both on the same mock-up page, so the pairing is verified before either is produced. No test reports or invented load figures here — what you judge is the physical proof, which arrives in 3-5 days.
Order Flow: Mock-up, Proof, Bulk
Send the product size, packed weight, quantity and destination. Step one is a free digital mock-up showing print faces, fold positions and the slide direction. Step two is a real sample in 3-5 days, which you check for fit, colour and how the tray behaves. Step three is production: 7-15 days after artwork approval. MOQ holds at 100 pcs per design, and multi-style splits — two footprints, three colourways, plus bands — consolidate onto one order while keeping each line’s quantity visible on the packing list.
Artwork handoff is deliberately low-friction. A print-ready PDF with bleed is ideal, but a flat image plus the product dimensions is enough to open a slot in the platemaking queue; our studio preflights the file, fixes traps and bleed on your behalf, and sends the corrected artwork back for a yes before exposure. That single confirmation is the gate most delays actually hide behind, which is why the proof clock only starts once your team has said yes to a picture, not to a paragraph.
Packing and Freight
Drawers ship flat: nested in poly bags, counted per carton, with band and tag quantities palletised alongside so receiving is a single count. Freight goes by sea, air, or express courier — DHL, UPS, FedEx and TNT — and FBA labelling plus carton prep are done before the shipment leaves, ready for direct routing to a fulfilment centre.

Boxes and Bags That Pair With This Style
When a campaign needs the premium tier of the slide family, our rigid drawer boxes with ribbon pull carry foil and insert work; flat folded formats for heavier sets sit under printed boxes; the same paperboard range in a lid-and-base build is on printed paper board boxes; and counter packaging rounds out in printed items.
